Reese’s New Book Club Pick Chosen Because It’s Cute and Matches Her Outfit
Also Admits She Never Learned How to Read
Reese Witherspoon has just chosen her latest Book Club pick, and while it might not be what you would expect, oh well, the cover is just so cute and just so happens to match her outfit!
Staff and publishers were surprised that the author chose The Relaxed Rabbit, a book by Chandra Moira Beal, about promoting behavior and range of motion in your pet bunny through the art of massage.
There's a bunny who works all day and has to come home and take care of the kids and make dinner, too. But luckily, a rabbit masseuse is in the neighborhood. That's when things get really interesting!
Ignoring her team’s apprehension, Reese kicked back on her couch--and oh wouldn't you know--her publicist just so happened to have her phone ready to make a new Reelz of the accessible Southern actress with hair done, fully made up.
But she just got done in the kitchen making fresh biscuits and she's such a mess! Okay then....(sighs). She 'guesses' she'll do this Book Talk now!
Reese isn't exactly sure what the book is about, but will continue to give a synopsis anyways. From what she can tell, there's a bunny who works all day and has to come home and take care of the kids and make dinner, too. But luckily, a rabbit masseuse is in the neighborhood. That's when things get really interesting!
Sounds good? No? It doesn't matter.
Legions of fans who call themselves "Reese's Pieces" will line up to get their hands on the book regardless of content but just as long as that little "Reese's Book Club" logo is on the cover.
Regardless of sales, Reese's production company Hello Sunshine will also produce the adaptation set to be released on HBO later this year. Laura Dern will star as the overworked and undersexed rabbit, while Little Fires Everywhere costar Joshua Jackson will play the talented yet boyishly handsome masseuse.
Before ending the video, Reese told her followers that she didn't actually read this book and in fact, hasn't really read any of the books that she's chosen. She usually just picks them based on the title or book jacket design. She prefers the ones that are "bright, splashy, an catchy" as she calls them.
Ignoring her agent's signal to cut the video, Reese finally admitted to her viewers that she never actually learned how to read; she just makes up all the stories in her head.
In fact, she has never actually read any of her scripts, she's just really good at improv. That's why all of her characters just seem like they are versions of Reese herself in different plots and settings.
"That was a long time coming, y'all, and I just had to get that off my chest," she said. "But look for The Relaxed Rabbit in bookstores and get ready for next month's pick: Karen Salmansohn’s book How to Succeed in Business without a Penis."
