It’s understandable that family connections are a quick way to getting the lifestyle or job that you want. While many of us are not getting movie or record deals because of our last name, many of us are where we are because of someone else.
Having influential parents is what this game is all about.
That’s why it comes as no shock that Isaac, the only son of Abraham and Sarah, would get special treatment from other Israelites, angels, and even God himself.
Abraham believed that God told him to kill his only son and then an angel was sent down to stop him. An actual deus ex machina occured to prevent him from dying.
Maximum nepo baby.
Yes, Isaac did a lot for humankind: he dug some wells, he helped people the world, and became a grandfather of the twelve tribes of Israel. Pretty important player in the Old Testament, really.
But would Isaac be such an important figure in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam if it wasn’t for his father? Doubtful.
Would he even have made it past his controversial binding at Mt. Moriah, where some confusing visions got him on the literal chopping block, moments from becoming a sacrificial lamb? Absolutely not. God found favor in Abraham and rewarded him by sparing his son on the altar.
Total nepo baby.
Can we talk about that for a moment? Abraham believed that God told him to kill his only son and then an angel was sent down to stop him. An actual deus ex machina occured to prevent him from dying.
Maximum nepo baby.
Isaac was chosen by God to continue the line of Abraham. This was a very important position, and it is likely that God chose Isaac because of his father's status. Abraham was a very faithful servant of God, and it is likely that God wanted to continue his legacy through Isaac.
Not only was Abraham mandem with God, but he was also a big time, mover and shaker, father of many nations, and custodian of God’s earth in the early days of what we come to know as Before Christ.
Oh yeah, Abraham was also a descendent of Noah.
Daaaamn. Dat dude who was chosen to continue the Semitic genealogical line when God destroyed the first world with a flood?
Man, Isaac was set.
Literally, all he had to do was probably just like show up to any job interview and be like, “Yeah, my dad is why we call this place a Great Nation. Not to mention you wouldn’t be standing here without my grandfather’s boat.”
Total douche. You know he was always mentioning “summering on the ark” or some shit.
And his mom was no slouch, either. Remember, she was even a half-sister of Abraham since the two shared a father. She was Israeli royalty, too! And let’s not forget that she was hot! So hot that Abraham even committed incest just so he could sleep with her barren ass.
Not to mention she was the ancestress of all of Israel.
So into all of this life of privilege Isaac was born. And if you go back and look at his story, he was never even really challenged or tested by God. He always got what he wanted, and he never had to face any adversity. This is very different from other characters in the Bible, who often had to face difficult challenges.
See Moses. See Job. See Elijah.
Later in his life, Isaac is so silly and senile that he sells his birthright to the incorrect son all because he was tricked into thinking some lamb skins were arm hair.
That’s the type of no real life experience/out of touch with reality shit that only a nepo baby could have experienced.
And that scam Jacob pulled on his father could only be dreamed up by a baby of a nepo baby. And in the end, all’s just forgiven because of who your family is.
And this just continues all throughout Abraham’s lineage. The cycle continues, from Joseph, to Ephraim, to Joshua and so on… just a bunch of nepos snacking on haroseth and coasting off of Poppa Abraham’s accomplishments.
No wonder why Israel is still such a mess.
