An aspiring writer who plans on publishing some books in the near future will eventually get to writing again, you know, once this thing called life finally settles down a little bit.
Not to mention there's just so much good content on the streaming platforms. How do you expect a guy to get anything done around here?!
Well, he better get to it before all of his other great ideas get published by other highly motivated individuals who have purpose and drive and can apply themselves to something without getting distracted.
So he hasn't really done much in a few years, but has really good intentions to get back at it one of these days.
The writer has a bunch of short stories and story ideas leftover from his time in grad school, but those have been laid to the wayside as he looks for jobs, tries to get married, and sort out the rest of his adult life.
But yes, he will get back to writing soon, he promises himself.
In fact, he's got this one short story from a few years ago that he's always wanted to publish, but he's even unsure of how he would go about even doing that these days. Send them away to literary magazines? Enter them in online contests? The fuck if he knows.
And he's got this really good idea for a novel about this down-on-his-luck guy who gets a once in a lifetime opportunity that has a crazy twist. Publishing companies will want to get their hands on this for sure!
But does he have a first chapter that he can send out to prospective literary agents?
No. It exists somewhere in crude outline form stuffed into an old folder jammed into a textbook which he may or may not have thrown out at one point.
But you should see this other book treatment that he has! It's about this dog who narrates the entire book....his owner is a competitive driver and it's all about their relationship and the absurdities of life told as only a dog can tell it!
Oh, so you mean like 2008's The Art of Racing in the Rain?
Crap, somebody already beat him to that idea. Well, he better get to it before all of his other great ideas get published by other highly motivated individuals who have purpose and drive and can apply themselves to something without getting distracted.
Yeah, yeah he's on it. Just got to apply for this soul-crushing job that will pay him peanuts and won't leave him any free time for writing.
And he's been dating this girl for a while and he feels like he might propose and then they'll be looking for houses together.
Not to mention how stressed he's been with things, so he's just going to unwind and catch up on Yellowstone. Everyone's been talking about it.
But yes, then he'll get focused. This novel isn't going to write itself, you know.
