A Comedy Star is Born: Student Reading Beowulf Calls Him "Grundle" on Purpose

Move over, Seinfeld...

Mrs. Crawford's Senior English class will never be the same now that Jason struck comedy gold and did the unimaginable...calling the antagonist of Beowulf "Grundle" instead of Grendel during a class reading of the epic poem.

Some are saying it was probably like witnessing Carlin doing his "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television" live or the first time an audience was sprayed with Gallagher's smashed watermelon guts.

Upon first hearing it, his fellow students thought he had just made a mistake. The second time, students looked up and glanced around. "Did he really just say what I thought he said," wondered one astonished onlooker.

When he said it the third time, the class erupted into glorious laughter. A comedy legend had been made. Jason sat there, prouder than a peacock, knowing he struck gold.

After several minutes, Mrs. Crawford was still trying to calm the class down. "I told them it isn't funny if a student mispronounces a word. They were being cruel!"

The fact that Mrs. Crawford didn't recognize the term--slang for the perineum, or area between the anus and genitals--made it all the more insanely hilarious.

Jason continued to call him Grundle throughout the reading. One time even just calling him "Gooch" and another time, "Taint." Mrs. Crawford even corrected him on these occasions: "Um, no Jason, his name is Grendel. Gren-del."

"Oh, sorry, Mrs. C. Grundle, got it."

For the rest of the class, the students were enraptured in mirth. Jason had them eating out of his hand.

"My uncle is a talent scout," said one student. "I have to call him and let him know about Jason."

Another student wondered what else he was capable of, and couldn't wait to see what he does with the likes of Bigger Thomas, Moby Dick, or Bottom from “A Midsummer Night's Dream.”

One female student even slipped him her number, hoping to become one of the first girls to have slept with this rising comedy icon.

After class, his peers approached him, whistling and howling while some even threw their schoolboy caps (who knew that students still wore these) into the air.

All clamored to shake his hand and pat him on the back until they hoisted him onto their shoulders to carry him through the quad.

Jason was an icon, their man, their champion.

Somebody get this kid a pilot.
